You’re assuming he had a plan, which seems overly generous to me. He’s basically operating on the principle of “hey, wouldn’t it be cool if we did this? It would totally be awesome.”

 

…have there been any productions in which Isabella responds to the Duke’s proposal by punching him in the face?
