Feb. 13th, 2026 05:54 pm Another year, another instance of a big social media service imposing unacceptable censorship and people wistfully going "man what if we all went back to dreamwidth". This time it's Discord, and this time they're reportedly trying to fight the relevant laws while also complying with them.
Seven years ago, when it was Tumblr, I wrote:
Whoops.
So I don't actually expect that I will successfully pick up this journal. It has never worked before, after all.

I'm establishing a base here, in the attempt to nudge fandom as a whole to DW and in general back to this style of fandom. If fandom jumps in another direction, which it likely will, I'll probably follow. But I'll be bitter about it.
The base is still here. But I spent those seven years mostly on Discord, and I engaged with people there more deeply than I ever had with anyone in the LJ days or Tumblr days. Part of that was the specific people (hi glowficcers!) but also it turns out that I just find writing posts and comments to be hard, and writing discord messages to be easy. Whoops.
So I don't actually expect that I will successfully pick up this journal. It has never worked before, after all.
